Syracuse University has partnered with Home HeadQuarters to offer a home-buyer assistance program for faculty and staff purchasing homes within designated areas of the City of Syracuse called "Matching Cash Grant Zones." These zones are census tracts defined by the U.S. Department of Treasury.
Home HeadQuarters is a private, not-for-profit organization established to improve the quality of local housing and neighborhoods. Its comprehensive services are designed to promote sustainable home ownership and affordable home improvements. Home HeadQuarters acts as a "one-stop shop," providing a multifaceted range of services and products to current and prospective homeowners by offering home-buyer education, financial counseling, housing repair and rehabilitation programs, innovative loan products and financing assistance, and post-purchase counseling to home buyers.
Home HeadQuarters will provide a $1,000 cash grant to a Syracuse University faculty or staff member purchasing a home in a designated Matching Cash Grant Zone. Syracuse University will match the $1,000 for a total grant of $2,000. The cash grant can be applied to the following:
